Curriculum
Early Years Curriculum
Our early years program is designed based on the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which has been modified to suit our local context. It is rich in activities that aim to consolidate all learning through games and play. Notably, we have a very successful phonics program that has contributed immensely to the children’s ability to develop good reading skills from an early age.
Areas of learning are:
- Communication and language skills.
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Literacy
- Physical development
- Number work
- Science
- Creative art and design
- Music
Primary Curriculum
Our primary curriculum is a unique fusion of the Cambridge primary curriculum and the Nigerian curriculum. The Cambridge primary curriculum is part of the Cambridge assessment international education qualification. It develops learners’ skills and understanding through the primary years in English language, mathematics, science, global perspective and ICT.
The integration of both curriculums has been an innovative experience for both teachers and pupils. We have recorded great learning experiences in all core subjects of study: mathematics, literacy and science curriculum encourage critical reasoning and problem-solving opportunities while learning.
The Cambridge primary progressive test forms part of our internal assessments, while the primary checkpoint is externally assessed at the end of year six. The checkpoints provide teachers with an international benchmark that informs our teaching team of progress made by learners over time. This unbiased feedback has been vital for all teaching and learning planning.
